Traveling up to Freeport, Maine for one of our favorite couple's wedding will be my highlight of the summer. I always tell Jon whenever we visit Maine that I want to move there! I just think that the people of Maine do it right - every seaside town has its own personality! They have fantastic food and really friendly people. Jon is quick to remind me that I would drive him nuts in the winter - but until then, I'll just keep pinning my dream home in Kennebunkport.
Jon's cousin, Katelyn, always has effortless syle and sophistication. It didn't surprise me at all that she could turn the one of the oldest barns in America into a gorgeous location for wedding.
They had an incredibly talented photographer, MKD Photography, to capture their special day. As a bonus, they even had a slide show of their pictures at the reception! I've been to a few weddings lately that have done this and it is a HUGE hit. I would definitely recommend asking your photographer if that's a possibility.
Here are a handful of my favorites:
A little bit about this couple:
Katelyn has great taste, a kind heart and is the hardest working gal you'd ever meet (she's a pediatric nurse that has mastered the night shift). She always goes the extra mile to make those around her feel special and that was clear on her wedding day.
Jon and I are huge fans of Ben! He's such a down to Earth and intelligent guy. He's the type of guy that not only plays the guitar but he made that guitar with his bare hands - true story. Because being THIS good at stuff makes Jon and I uncomfortable, we are actively compiling a list at what he's bad at. So far we've only found a questionable Pandora play list.
Their Wedding Details:
Wolfe's Neck Woods State Park
Location, Location, Location! This park was breath-taking and it provided so much beauty for their ceremony, photos and reception.
The couple was married on a field over looking the ocean. On the sides there were lush flowers for a variety of different photos. The reception took place at the Mallet Barn with lots of oppprtunity to add your own details. Wolfe's Neck Farm manages both of these properties.
Homemade Jam Favors
At most weddings, favors are an after-thought for guests and rarely even taken home. Their favors were a HUGE exception to this rule! Ben's mom canned all of the favors by hand. I guarded my blueberry jam with my life - there were definitely some people waiting to pounce once you stepped on the dance floor.
Everyone knows that Maineiacs take their food very seriously. They pride themselves on having fresh and locally sourced ingredients. Dandelion Catering was such a treat for guests. We had a family style seated dinner and enjoyed pan seared cod, beer braised chicken and couscous.
An Awesome Band: Emergency Broadcast System
They had everyone on their feet all night and covered a number of different genres. Katelyn passed out shutter glasses for everyone.
